WORLD BANK (IBRD) HEADQUARTER

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) is a global development cooperative owned by 189 member countries. As the largest development bank in the world, it supports the World Bank Group’s mission by providing loans, guarantees, risk management products, and advisory services to middle-income and creditworthy low-income countries, as well as by coordinating responses to regional and global challenges.

Today the Bank Group’s work touches nearly every sector that is important to fighting poverty, supporting economic growth, and ensuring sustainable gains in the quality of people’s lives in developing countries.
They work closely with all institutions of the World Bank Group and the public and private sectors in developing countries to reduce poverty and build shared prosperity.

The new headquarter in Egypt has a high value to the bank due to the amount of projects delivered and the evolution on the bank's role in the middle east and north Africa. The evolution of the Bank Group has also been reflected in the diversity of its multidisciplinary staff and wide range of development projects carried out in the region. This diversity has been the leading factor in developing the design and structure of the new headquarter in Egypt.

The space house approximately 80 employees in private and open office space. The interior fit-out of this new office space which includes common support spaces such as conference rooms, reception area, visiting mission’s room, file areas, kitchen and computer server room.
The World Bank Country Office in Cairo, Egypt with a 1,270m² floor in the Nile City Towers Building serve as the new location for the IBRD office in Cairo.

BECT designed and integrated the new space together with other interior design elements to reflect the image of the World Bank.
The project is divided into several stages: 1- Preliminary, 2- Conceptual / Schematic Design Phase, 3- Design Development Phase / Interior Design, 4- Construction Documentation, 5- Bidding Phase, 6- Site Supervision, 7- Move In / Close Out Phase.
Concerning these stages, BECT provided the following consultancy / design services: Survey, Architectural, Mechanical, HVAC, Electrical, Sanitary, Fire and Security Systems, and Telephone/Data Systems, Furniture Systems, Specifications and BOQ.
